This is a supervisory role that aims to attract candidates with the necessary skills, experience, and leadership qualities to effectively manage the development of cloud security tools.
Technical Skills Needed:
- Cloud Platforms: Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including their security services and features.
- Security Tools: Hands-on experience with cloud security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP, and encryption solutions.
- Programming and Scripting: Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#) and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
- DevOps Practices: Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes) for continuous integration and deployment.
- Security Frameworks: Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, and SOC 2.
- Automation: Experience with automation tools and practices to streamline security processes and ensure consistency.
Leadership Skills Needed:
- Team Management: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team of developers, security engineers, and other technical staff.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with technical teams, stakeholders, and executives.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex security challenges and incidents.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align security initiatives with business objectives.
Specific Experiences Needed:
- Tool Development: Experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining cloud security tools and platforms.
- Incident Response: Proven track record in managing security incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Compliance: Experience ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Vendor Management: Experience working with third-party vendors and evaluating their security solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of developers and security engineers.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud security tools.
- Ensure alignment of security tool development with business and compliance requirements.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle.
- Stay updated on the latest security trends, tools, and best practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information security, or related field.
- 7-10 years of IT experience, with 3-5 years in cloud security.
- 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Relevant certifications (CISSP, CCSP, AWS Certified Security Specialty) preferred.
- Strong technical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Desired location(s): Dallas, TX -OR- Middletown, NJ; other listed locations considered for the most qualified candidate(s).
Supervisory:
Yes. This position typically has Associate Director Cyber Security and other Cyber Security direct reports.
This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.
Our Director-Cybersecurity earns between $191,400.00-$287,200.00 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
