Overall Purpose: Optimizes procurement processes by forecasting and managing inventory levels, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, supplies, and commodity products to support organizational goals.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Inventory Management and Forecasting: Forecast requirements and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock of materials, equipment, supplies, and commodity products, preventing shortages and overstock situations. • Supplier Relationship Management and Procurement: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, evaluate new vendors, perform financial analyses, negotiate terms of purchase, and ensure cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. • Problem Resolution and Process Improvement: Resolve issues related to inventory, production schedules, or material shortages, and implement procedures to prevent future problems and enhance procurement processes. • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze purchasing data, issue periodic reports on trends, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making and improve purchasing strategies. • Compliance and Record Keeping: Check and approve invoices for orders placed, obtain certifications of delivery, ensure compliance with organizational policies, and develop and maintain necessary records and files for efficient operation.
Job Contribution: A professional with solid knowledge of fundamental concepts and organizational practices, working on smaller projects. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired. 1+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.
