The Principal Accountant will be an integral team member of the Accounting Policy team and will report to the AVP – Accounting. This individual will play a critical role in supporting Accounting Policy/Corporate Development to key stakeholders, various internal and external reporting obligations, as well as supporting the transactional Mergers and Acquisitions accounting processes. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, motivated individual and a self-starter who can identify opportunities, propose solutions, and drive process improvements to completion in a deadline-oriented team environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) accounting, requiring complex technical accounting judgments. The individual will work cross-functionally with Corporate Development, Accounting, Finance, Tax, and Treasury, from the inception to the completion of Corporate Development opportunities.
- Providing comprehensive and complex technical accounting research to the and other Vice President/Officer-level employees concerning potential transactions being considered by Corporate Development. This involves analyzing and interpreting intricate accounting standards and regulations to offer accurate and insightful guidance on the financial implications of proposed transactions.
- Assist external specialists who are hired to create carve-out financial statements for highly complex business dispositions. This entails managing and coordinating the efforts of these specialists to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the financial statements, which separate the financial information of the business being disposed of from the parent company.
Oversee equity and cost method accounting, which includes the review of detailed monthly journal entries, Account Balance Reconciliations (ABRs), and other related financial records. The individual will direct the actions of employees, providing guidance and support to ensure that all accounting entries are correctly recorded and reported.
- Liase with external auditors to support the completion of financial statement and internal control audits, including preparation and coordination of PBC items.
- Collaborate with other Financial Reporting team members to prepare and ensure the accuracy of publicly issued quarterly and annual financial reports (Form 10-Q and 10-K filings) and Board of Director materials, including performing detailed tie-outs and internal controls in compliance with SOX standards.
- Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc requests for analyses and information, as needed.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
- CPA required.
- At least 5-7 years of experience which includes public accounting and/or financial reporting/technical accounting experience.
- Technical accounting knowledge of US GAAP and SEC requirements required.
- Detail-oriented and proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Education:
- Bachelors degree (BS/BA) desired. 7+ years of Related Experience.
Experience:
- Requires 5-7 years of experience in IT, finance, and or accounting.
- CPA Certification Required - Please submit License State & Number.
