Position Description:

Experienced cybersecurity engineer with 8 or more years of professional working knowledge and background in software development including cybersecurity analysis application design and integration.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Implements complex systems and advanced software application development/engineering design methodologies and processes for the efficient handling of large-scale data to quickly identify malicious network activity.

• Has specialized knowledge in the design and development of cybersecurity applications supporting IP, DNS, Mobility 4G/5G Network Cloud, and VoIP with strong emphasis on data analysis, implementation of automated algorithms, use of custom signatures, and generation of indicators/alerts for detecting threats.

• Provides leadership support role across various teams including project managers for planning and scheduling, systems engineers to identify requirements, architects to develop solutions to meet user requirements and security policies, coordination/integration of system features with software developers and internal/external customers, and operations to identify and resolve production network issues while maintaining high availability of platform services.

• Performs unit testing/verification of developed code, design and review of unit/system test plans, and support in System Test (ST), User Acceptance Test (UAT), and Operations Readiness Test (ORT).

• Leads development activities with focus on introducing new capabilities improving overall security posture to defend against evolving cybersecurity threats and enhancing mitigation techniques as part of response efforts to protect customers and infrastructure.

• Leads software architecture design and coding in various advanced programming languages and other web-based tools, and database structured queries for developing customized cybersecurity applications, features, and services based on high-level specifications to support security analyst requirements and project objectives.

• Designs and implements high-speed data packet processing and parsing decode of essential network protocols as part of cybersecurity applications to generate custom metadata, analytics, and indicators for threat identification.

• Works with system engineers and analysts implementing tools and enhanced features involving complex cybersecurity algorithm design from proof-of-concept phase to streamlined production state providing high optimization in application performance.

• Uses advanced knowledge of network protocols and sophisticated attack techniques for the design and implementation of application features to improve threat analysis and anomaly detection/alerting aiding analysts in workflow execution to minimize investigation times.

• Implements client/server interface applications for fast, efficient transfer of files and streaming data indicating time interval completion for triggering processing as part of collection and delivery of data feeds for cybersecurity analysis architectures.

• Leads detailed software application code reviews for design implementation, risk assessment, quality assurance, and performance/reliability analysis to ensure data processing efficiency.

• Ensures best practices and security compliance as part of general code development, routine static scans, and patching for vulnerability protection.

• Works closely with Test/Tier Support teams and Network Operations on production applications and services to support software release deployments, incorporate key operational procedures, develop/present training overview sessions, and troubleshoot/resolve complex network and customer related issues.

• Documents software application feature functionality as related to processes, flows, system interfaces, and general maintenance for sharing across teams and reviewing final design methodology for production operational deployment.

• Mentors team members on establishing processes/procedures and gives guidance on cybersecurity application design and development strategy from proof-of-concept phase to production deployment.

• Supports the design/prototyping of platforms and cybersecurity applications for future technology strategies for large-scale distributed network architectures, identifying opportunities for greater cost effectiveness while improving overall system processing capability and efficiency.

Required Skills:

• Demonstrates strong development, analysis, and troubleshooting skills.

• Demonstrates excellent leadership skills involving team interaction, communication, documentation, and complex problem-solving ability.

• Independent and self-directed with a solutions-oriented focus.

• Team player within the organization to meet business objectives.

• Preferred education is a Bachelor or Master of Science degree in the field of Computers, Software, Engineering, or Cybersecurity.  Security certifications also preferred.

Technical skills and background include:

• Detailed knowledge of UNIX/Linux systems.

• Detailed knowledge of system design and unit-test/evaluation principles.

• Detailed knowledge of network protocols (IP/TCP/UDP/ICMP/DNS/SIP/Mobility GTP/PFCP).

• Detailed knowledge of programming with shell/AWK/Python/Perl/C/C++/XML/HTML/Java Script.

• Detailed knowledge of relational databases and Hadoop.

• Application of security policies, software hardening, data encryption (transit and at rest), and code vulnerability scanning.

• Ability to perform traffic analysis, investigation, and troubleshooting for application development.

• Detailed knowledge of packet monitoring/inspection and algorithm integration as part of cybersecurity application design.

• Detailed knowledge of IP/Mobility data flow and session-based system transactions.

• Detailed knowledge of “Big Data” platforms and distributed cybersecurity software architectures.

• Detailed knowledge in the design and implementation of application security monitoring services, automation, threat analysis and detection, and packet analysis tools.

• Knowledge of Agile processes.

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

Our Principal Cybersecurity earn between 158,200.00 - 237,400.00 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
