Job Description:
Overall Purpose: Architect and implement scalable, secure, and efficient API solutions that drive growth for AT&T Business’ multi-billion dollar Indirect channel(s). This role is pivotal in aligning and shaping future state architecture by optimizing API performance and ensuring seamless integration across disparate systems, directly impacting the customer experience and increasing sales velocity. As the subject matter expert, you will provide technical leadership, strategic vision, and operational support for AT&T's extensive API ecosystem, bridging the gap for our 3rd party distribution to operate with increased speed and automation.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategic API Architecture & Roadmap:
- Define and implement a unified architectural vision for AT&T's API platforms (AOFLOW/LGW, Mulesoft, CSI), ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and technology roadmaps.
- Act as the subject matter expert in API architecture, performance, and integration, driving strategic investments and technology evolution.
- Design and specify high-level API solutions, analyzing technical trade-offs and defining functional and non-functional requirements (NFRs) to support complex sales channels.
API Platform Optimization & Operational Excellence:
- Lead API platform performance and stability by supporting 30+ APIs for 8 key AT&T products (Dedicated Fiber, Ethernet, Fixed Wireless, VPN, ABF, Mobility) across 3 discrete hosting gateways.
- Lead API planning, integration, and operations, ensuring seamless experiences for millions of API calls and driving automated transactions.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 level support for API operations, including performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
- Ensure business continuity through expert API operations representation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Coordinate with internal groups such as Technology/Development, Technology Production Support, Service Delivery, Mobility and Wireline Product Marketing/Management, Legal, Chief Security Office, APS and Alliance Sales, and CSI/AIM.
- Collaborate with portfolio stakeholders, Enterprise Architects, System Engineers, and development teams to align architectural direction and ensure seamless integration.
- Serve as the single point of contact for APS leadership and key stakeholders, facilitating efficient communication and problem resolution.
Sales Enablement & Partner Support:
- Facilitate the onboarding of new Direct Consumption API partners, including technical questionnaire reviews, licensing agreement management, and credential provisioning.
- Provide expert client support, managing trouble reports and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Support training and daily workload balancing.
Oversight and Governance:
- Lead the API Operations team, ensuring production support, quality assurance, and compliance with security and legal requirements.
- Manage licensing agreements and offshore approvals in coordination with CSO and Legal teams.
- Establish and maintain business process methods and procedures for efficiency and business continuity.
- Utilize and support key internal tools such as Salesforce (SFDC), MuleSoft, Postman, AT&T eSign, LGW Portal, and tView.
Job Contribution: A proven expert in API architecture and operations with deep business and product knowledge (wireline and mobility) to drive strategic sales initiatives. Leads critical, high-visibility projects that directly impact multi-billion dollar sales channels. Works with minimal oversight, influencing executive decisions and serving as a mentor to others. A proactive problem-solver with the ability to manage complex operations, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless execution in a fast-paced environment.

Education/Experience: Master's degree (MS/MA) desired in Computer Science or related field. 7+ years of experience in API architecture, integration, and operations. Proven expertise in wireline and mobility product knowledge. Certification is required in some areas.
Our Principal Solution Architecture - API Enablement, earn between $158,200 - $237,400. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
